GAA Field Development 2007

Abbeydorney GAA pitch closed for development work on Tuesday 10th April. This development work will entail the installation of an all weather sand carpet pitch , erection of floodlighting to match standard, building of a spectator stand, erection of spectator fencing and other associated works. It is expected that the pitch wil reopen in the Autumn of 2008. This extended period is necessary to allow the all weather pitch time to knit in and mature.

There will be strictly no unauthorised access to the pitch area during this period.

All team training will now move to Roches field adjacent to Kyrie Eleison Abbey and Abbeydorney GAA club wish to thank Finbarr Roche and family for making their field available to the club.

Abbeydorney GAA have received formal approval from the Dept. of Arts, Sports and Tourism for a grant of €80,000 under the sports capital programme towards the installation of the all weather surface and last week we received the good news that we have provisionally been allocated €70,000 towards the installation of pitch floodlighting.

It is the absolute wish of Abbeydorney GAA to provide the best possible state of the art playing facilities for the sporting youth of our parish and consequently we will have a financial shortfall of approx. €100,000.

As a first step towards reducing this shortfall the club are organising a NIGHT AT THE DOGS on Saturday 16th June at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium Tralee.
Your support will be greatly appreciated. Over the coming weeks club members will be calling to your door offering you the opportunity to Sponsor a race, Nominate a dog, Contribute to our sponsorship booklet or purchase an admission ticket for €5.
We have a fantastic gate prize of a HOLIDAY VOUCHER worth €1000
