Allianz National Hurling League Kerry 2-24 Kildare 0-13
Kerry senior hurlers had a second win in the Allianz National Hurling League on Sunday Afternoon in Tom Healy Memorial Park Abbeydorney.
Kerry got off to a good start with a goal by David Butler, at half time Kerry were well ahead 1-15 to 0-5,half forward Mikey Boyle gave a very good display from sideline cuts and play adding a goal in the second half finishing with 1-05, Local Players on Kerry Team Darragh O'Connell at midfield and subs Brendan O'Leary and Kieran Dineen .

The second round of NKHL was played on Sat 22nd feb in wet and windy conditions with both side putting in a good effort considering the conditions, ODorney led at the break 1-03 to 0-5. ODorneys goal coming from PJ Ryan.

St Patrick's Day Parade
Plans are underway once again for our local St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Monday, March 17th. Getting underway at 2pm, the parade this year will take a shorter route, departing from Abbeydorney Club House, making its way through the village, turning right onto the Ardfert Road, travelling as far as the local Community Hall, before finishing back at Abbeydorney Club House again.
All Clubs, Organisations and Businesses are invited to participate in the parade in some way.

Kerry Senior recorded a big win away against Derry on Sunday Local Players Brendan O'Leary, Kieran Dineen and Darragh O'Connell at half time Kerry were up 3-12 to 2-01. Kerry will play Kildare on Sunday next February 23rd in Austin Stacks Park Tralee @ 2pm.

North Kerry Senior League Abbeydorney 1-15 Ballyduff 3-06
Abbeydorney and Ballyduff were first to play in the North Kerry Senior Hurling League on Sunday afternoon with the local team sponsored by Mike Baker Welding Works and Eamon O'Connell Haulier Abbeydorney, Abbeydorney settled better in the first half , Ballyduffs Thomas O'Rourke finished to the net with a well taken goal from a free and PJ Keane scored Abbeydorneys goal just before the break to leave ODorney ahead 1-10 to 1-05.
Ballyduff rallied with two goals from John Carroll in the second half with all the pressure on the ODorney back line with Liam Boyle moving to the forward line
Abbeydorney had to defend in the second half and held out with Chris McCarthy,Stephen O'Connor, Mike Hannafin, Brian O'Leary and up front a good spread of scores from the forwards who all played well.Best for Ballyduff were Liam Boyle, Thomas O'Rourke Daniel O'Carroll and Padraig Grady.

Bord na nÓg Awards

Abbeydorney Juvenile Club held its awards night on Saturday last a large turnout by parents and Children with plenty of games and quiz's for children medals were presented by Kerry Minor Players Steve OSullivan, Mike O'Leary, and JP Byrne, Club person of the year award went Bord na nag Secretary Brian Murphy, you can now keep up to date with the clubs new website and its new facebook page updates will posted regularly so keep in touch with what's happening in the club.

GAA Awards Night
Our GAA Awards night was held on Saturday night last in the GAA Clubhouse; for the first time the GAA club has secured a Sponsorship deal with two well known local businesses Mike Baker Welding Works Rathkenny and Eamon O'Connell Haulage Abbeydorney- both have come on board from the start of the year which is a huge bonus to the club. Club Chairman Gerry Treanor thanked both Eamon and Mike for their sponsorship and wished them well in 2014,
The Club's 5 year plan also included up-dating the current website which was established in 2003 to include facebook and twitter accounts also club Merchandise to be put on sale jerseys, rain gear etc.
Mary Roche set up a new website which became active on Saturday night last and thanks to Brian Murphy Bord na nOg Secretary, Gerry Doyle PRO Senior Club and Mary for setting up this new website,
Awards on the night went to:
Minor Player of the year to Mike O'Leary, Under 21 Player of the year to Brendan O'Leary, and Junior Player of the year went to Daniel O'Leary, Aidan Healy was the Senior Player of the Year, Merit Awards went to Stevie O'Sullivan, Jp Byrne and Mike O'Leary, all members of the All-Ireland Minor Panel,
and merit awards went to Chris McCarthy, Stephen O'Connor, Daniel Brendan and Mike O'Leary, all members of the All-Ireland Under 21 team.
Merit Awards were also presented to Shinty players Darragh O'Connell who played with Ireland and to Brendan O'Leary who played with Irelands under 21 winning team.
Club person of the year award went to hard working current Chairman Gerry Treanor who set up a five year plan earlier this year.
Hall of Fame Award for 2013 went to Jack Condon who unfortunately could not be present on the night and his sister Peg Nolan accepted the award on his behalf. Jack was one of the famous members of the 1974 team who set up Abbeydorney on that famous day in October for County Championship final win over Austin Stacks with three cracking goals, not an easy achievement bye any means. Jack was also well known in the Vintage Machinery and Ploughing matches around the county. Well done Jack and we wish you the best of health for the future.

Abbeydorney training schedule
U12 and U14 training continues on Sundays at 12 noon, all coaches to be available at 11.45am. Training days and times will be reviewed when the time changes.
Minor Training continues Friday nights from 7-8pm in the Ball Wall and strength and conditioning training on Wednesday nights in the Handball Alley.
Senior Training continues Fridays and Tuesdays, great turn out again last week, keep up the good work.

Club Officer Training for Kerry Clubs will take place on Wednesday 5th February at Killorglin Community Collage at 7.30pm.

Shannow Family Resource Centre

The Men's Cookery class is due to start back on Monday 10th February from 7pm to 9pm and will run for 10 weeks. There is no cost for the course but participants must contribute towards the cost of ingredients used in each class. The tutor for the class is Joe Dalton. If you wish to take part in the course or have any further queries please contact the centre on 066 7198081.
Cyclist needed. Be part of the Radio Kerry, Ring of Kerry charity cycle on July 5th, the Irish Red Cross are one of the 9 benefactors from this year’s cycle and will be hosting an information evening and signing up cyclist this Friday night the 7th February in the Grand Hotel Tralee from 6-9pm. All welcome.
