Community Games
The boys of Abbeydorney/ Crotta played in the U11 Community games County Hurling finals on Saturday last in Ardfert. The team played Ardfert/ Kilmoyley in their first game. Both sides played very well right through out the game with the Abbeydorney/Crotta boys coming out with a win. They then played Ballyheigue and again it was a very competitive game and very exciting as again the boys pulled it off. The Abbeydorney/Crotta boys then played Kilgarven in the final. At half time in this match Kilgarven led by 1-1 to 0-0 however they had played with the advantage of a strong breeze in that half. The local boys went out fighting in the second half and played exceptional hurling and they came out the winners on a scoreline of 4-1 to 1-1. We would like to thank Timmy Spillane and Paul O Donaghue on managing the team. A special word of thanks also to Tony Maunsell, Aiden Sheehan and Paddy Murnane and Mike Leahy for looking after the boys. Thanks to Patsy O Connell for all her help leading up to the advent and for her presentation of the gold medals to our local boys. Thanks to all involved in Ardfert for hosting the event.
