Westmeath raced into a 5 point lead before James Flaherty opened Kerry's account with a point from play. Westmeath replied with a point before Tim Hannafin had Kerry's second point from play. Kerry were playing into a stiff breeze and went 7 to 2 adrift when Westmeath had a point. Tim Hannafin reduced the margin with a point from a free following a foul on Robert Wallace. Westmeath closed the 1st Half with a pointed free.
H/T: Westmeath 0-8 to 0-3.
Westmeath extened their lead with a pointed 65-yard free. Then James Flaherty scored a great goal to bring the Kingdom back into the game. Points from Rory Horgan and James Flaherty closed the gap before Rory Horgan levelled up the scores with a great point. Westmeath took the lead with a pointed free before Tim Hannafin equalised with a pointed free. Going into the last 5 minutes the teams were level and James Flaherty gave Kerry the lead for the first time with a fine point from play. Tim Hannafin quickly replied with a long range point to give Kerry a 2 point lead with 2 minutes left in the game. Nigel Roche received his second yellow card at this stage, Westmeath came in search of the winning goal and were denied with some superb defending to keep them out from close range frees

The Junior team had a good start to this junior match in Kilgarvan on Wednesday night last. No Referee showed up for this match and both clubs agreed to let an outside man referee the match. Jim Burke from Meath on Holidays in Kilgarvan took over the refeering for the night and did a very good job. Abbeydorney started very well up 2-8 to 1-3 in the first half with scores coming from Tom Rice and Chris O'Brien 0-1 each and David Doyle 1-1, Mark O'Callaghan 0-3 and Tom O'Connell 1-2. In the second half Kilgarvan struck back for 5 unanswered points and the game was going to be a tight contest from here on in until Chris O'Brien struck for a well taken goal. Kilgarvan kept up the momentum with plenty pressure on the back line with Der Lawler, Brian Quain, David Doyle Mark Callaghan and Chris O'Brien standing out for the Black and Amber boys. Kilgarvan were denied a goal in the closing stages for a foul on the Abbeydorneys Rebel keeper who had anxious moments all through the match as the ball failed to come up on several occasions.

The Kerry Hurlers retained their Christy Ring Cup status after a 2-19 to 1-07 victory in the relegation final at Cusack Park Ennis on Saturday last. The Kingdom were always in control of this encounter with Roscommon. Points by Michael Conway and Ivan McCarthy and Andrew Keane helped the Kingdom with 2 Goals from Michael Conway. Dingle and Abbeydorney served a very good game of hurling at Caherslee on Monday Last. The scores were hard to come by with Brendan O'Leary opening Abbeydorney with a point from a free. Dingle were back level with a point from Barry OSullivan; Michael O'Leary put Abbeydorney back in the lead with a point and Barry O'Sullivan replied with a point from play. Dara Ryan scored a good goal before Half Time. Abbeydorney made a few changes in the second half with Brendan O'Leary moving to midfield and made an immediate impact with a good point from play. Dingle had two goals in the last few minutes from Donal Kennedy and Matthew Flaherty.
