Abbeydorney are Kerry Minor Hurling champions 2008. Abbeydorney 1-10, Kilmoyley 0-10
Abbeydorney defeated Kilmoyley in the County Minior hurling Final at Ballyheigue today. In a superb close game of hurling in which both sides displayed some fine hurling skills, Abbeydorney availed of their opportunities better than Kilmoyley to win by one goal.
Some inspirational scores from Daniel O'Leary helped Abbeydorney secure their first Minor Chmpionship since 1999

Abbeydorney juniors had a good win on Sunday morning with goals from Liam O'Sullivan, Paudie Dineen and 2 from Paul McElligott, points from Chris O'Brien, Paul McElligott, Tom O'Connell and David Nolan 1 point each and 2 from Barry Sheehan while Laune Rangers had Paul Daly in top form with points from frees.

Minor Hurling Championship S/finalI Abbeydorney 2-10 Ballyheigue 1-9 Venue Ballyheigue.
Abbeydorney minors are back in a minor County Hurling Championship after a lapse of 9 years when they last won in 1999.
Abbeydorney got off to a good start with a point from Padraig Dignan after the throw in. Darragh O'Connell's free went all the way to the net to put Abbeydorney in a comfortable lead. Ronan Kenny had Ballyheigue's first point from a free and Brian Leen had Abbeydorney's 2nd goa. Points from Daniel OLeary, Jason Fealy, Darragh O'Connell and 2 from Padraig Kelly gave Abbeydorney the advantage at half time, O'Dorney 2-5, Ballyheigue 0-4. PJ Keane and James O'Connor playing mighty stuff for Abbeydorney with Ronan Kenny in top form for Ballyheigue.
In the second half Darragh O'Connell added 2 points to give Abbeydorney a 9 point lead but Ballyheigue came more into the game when Shane Dunne was moved from full forward and began to cause problems for Abbeydorney, 1-1 from him and a point from Kevin Reidy and Ronan Kenny brought Abbeydorney's lead down to 2 points but Darragh O'Connell added 2 points to give Abbeydorney a 4 point win over a tough dogged Ballyheigue team.
Abbeydorney will have to improve in all sectors of the pitch if they are going to have any chance against Kilmoyley who defeated Lixnaw on a score 2-15 to 1-10.
Abbeydorney's best players were James O'Connor and PJ Keane.

County Minor Hurling Championship
Abbeydorney and Ballyheigue were due to play in the Minor County Championship Semi / Final last Saturday in Abbeydorney but due to the heavy rain before the game the Referee Diarmuid Carroll Ballyduff called off the match.
Both teams deserved a better day to show their skills.

On Monday last 140.Tones of sand was applied to our GAA Pitch as maintance to our pitch surface. Please note that this will be applied annually.

Camogie and All-Ireland Féile Medal Presentation
Camogie Medal Presentation night to Abbeylix U10 County League Winners, Cillard U12 County League Winners, Causeway U14 County League Winners and All-Ireland Feile Winners will take place on Friday next 10th October in Ballyroe Heights Hotel @ 9pm.
