| The Abbeydorney Under 16 Team who participated in the Ballyhea U16 Tournament |
Ballyhea Under 16 Tournament
Abbeydorney GAA Club was invited to participate in the 1st year of the Pat McCarthy Memorial Cup Tournament on Sunday 13th last. We were up against top teams from Cappoquin Waterford, South Liberties Limerick and Ballyhea Cork who were hosts for this competition and did an excellent job running this competition.
Our first game was against South Liberties Limerick and even though we led right up to the end we conceded a free on the stroke of time and the Limerick boys put the ball over the bar to draw this match.
The Second game was up against the more balanced side hosts Ballyhea who won this match 1-12 to 0-6 and our final game was against Cappoquin Waterford which we won in the end by the minimum of a point.
The points were totted up in the end as a number of teams had drawn and were just pipped for the final spot with Ballyhea and Cappoquin in the final and much to our surprise Cappoquin went on to win by 1 point in the end.
Well done to John Roche and Ballyhea Club for an excellent day out also to the Ladies Committee for all the refreshments on the day also to the McCarthy family for sponsoring the Tournament.
