Abbeydorney/Ballyheigue played better in the first half with the scores coming from Joe McCarthy 1-1 and Mark Dineen 1-0 The Breeze seem to get wilder in the second half and this was a tight contest right up the end and with Abbeydorney/Ballyheigue continuing to foul persistently in the end.

Venue Austin Stacks Park Tralee. 16-10-2005
Abbeydorney Senior Hurlers will have another crack at the Senior Hurling Championship on Sunday next and as this was a tight contest the last time around this will surely draw a larger number of supporters for the replay, Abbeydorney let this game slip from their grasp last time around but a number of players failed to get going on that day and a big improvement is needed from each player. 31 years is a long time to wait to get into a Championship Final . Good luck to all Players and Team Management.

A.I.B County Senior Hurling Championship: Final Abbeydorney 2-8 Lixnaw 1-11 Venue Austin Stacks Park Tralee

This match left all supporters on their feet, right up to the end with an exciting finish. Both teams finished level at half time with 6 points apiece, with O'Dorney's scores coming from Ivan McCarthy and Ian Maunsell from frees. Both teams tried to cope with the sandy condition of the Austin Stacks Park pitch with a lot of palyers failing to pick the ball on the run. Surely this is not good enough for a county hurling final.
The first half was evenly contested, with both teams taking time to settle. Abbeydorney came more into the game in the second half with Kieran Hanafin scoring two goals, and Tommy O'Halloran pulling off some terrific saves. But Lixnaw came back at the O'Dorney boys even though they were reduced to 14 players and a high ball which deceived our back line went to the net which brought Llixnaw back from four points down. Lixnaw levelled matters near the end and referee Rory Hickey blew the final whistle to battle out another day.
